House price recovery still at rainbow's end: house prices show no signs of booming in thenear term. Home owners may have to wait until the next decade for any significantupturn
Article Abstract:
Any revival in house prices has been brief and figures from theHalifax and the Nationwide Anglia building societies do not indicate any significant recovery inthe near future. Easter is usually seen as the start of the house buying season, but there are fewsigns to indicate that interest is improving. House prices have dropped by over an eighth sincetheir peak in the 1980s, and the south-east has been worst affected by the falls. The movetowards building society mergers is being driven by the weak housing market.
