How NPI ran out of nuts
Article Abstract:
NPI is a life insurer that has not provided satisfactory services to its policyholders for a number of years. NPI's with-profit policies have tended to perform below average in 1998. The company decided to place less emphasis on equities and this led to underperformance after fifteen or twenty years. The company's free assets have been undermined by guaranteed annuities in 1998. The company's costs have also tended to be higher than average for a mutual.
