How to Enhance Inbound Telemarketing with Telephone Switching Systems
Article Abstract:
For telephone users, there are many options when it comes to telephone switching. However, the cost of such switching systems will continue to rise. Five types of switching methods are discussed and evaluated: Direct Inward Dialing, Centrex, Centralized Attendant Service, Automatic Call Distribution and Call Sequencers. While all five systems handle calls effectively, one additional system is recommended: Automated Switchboard Attendant which allows callers to ring the desired department after the phone call has been answered by a recorded voice message. The caller can dial an extension number any time during a message and get the department desired. Charts illustrate how the Automated Switchboard Attendant can be used effectively.

A Layperson's Primer on the Cellular Telephone Industry
Article Abstract:
The cellular telephone industry began in Chicago in 1984. Cellular phones are most commonly associated with car phones. The system uses radio waves instead of a phone line. A geographic area is divided into grids and the signal from a car phone is received by the nearest grid and transferred to the main base; from there the communication is transferred to its intended audience. Eventually, customers will be able to drive from city to city and use the cellular phones for cross country calls. Right now the cost of cellular communications is probably too high, although the Chicago market has done quite well with over 8,000 customers in less than six months. The cellular system offers a new telemarketing opportunity for business.
