Human factors in modern traffic systems
Article Abstract:
The role of human factors in the development of transportation technologies is analyzed. Current efforts to develop transportation systems fail to consider the needs of end-users by being technology-centered rather than user-centered. It is argued that end users must be considered to meet future transportation goals while the design efforts should focus on macro-level effects and human interactions with other elements of the traffic system.

A systems approach to organizational error
Article Abstract:
There have been a large number of large-scale accidents in a big range of dangerous as well as well-defended technologies. The main reasons behind these disasters can be found in latent failures and organizational mistakes emerging in the upper segment of the system. A model of the causation of these organizational disasters is described. The model provides for both active and latent kinds of causes.
