IBM's sales force needs trimming: analysts
Article Abstract:
As a consequence of the $2.78 billion loss incurred by IBM Corp for the third-quarter, a reduction of the sales and service work force is recommended by analysts. The reduction of from 30,000 to 50,000 personnel is expected to be undertaken with the sales force getting a larger percentage of the reduction compared to the manufacturing area. The IBM's Personal Computer Co registered most of the losses as result of competitions from other computer companies which offer a much lower selling price for their personal computers.
