Influence of two different modes of resistance training in female subjects
Article Abstract:
High intensity and low volume training and low intensity and high volume training show comparable effect on muscle cross section area (CSA) and isokinetic strength in females during initial stage of resistance training. Eleven untrained females are randomly divided into two groups. For group H, the training scheme includes 4-5 sets of 15-20 repetition maximum (RM) with enough rest between sets. For group S, training involves 8-9 sets of 4-6 RM with 90 seconds rests between sets. The increase in muscles strength is 3.3 plus minus 0.7% for group H and 3.6 plus minus 1.1% for group S.

Isomeric muscle strength of Chinese young males in Taiwan
Article Abstract:
The isometric muscle strength of Chinese young males in Taiwan was obtained. The subjects belong to the 16 to 20 age bracket. Four types of muscle strength were measured and analyzed by computing the product moment correlation coefficients of all the variables. Data gathered were compared with foreign and domestic studies in literature. The pattern was observed to be similar, but the values were relatively smaller than those from western countries.

A 16-year follow-up of physical capacity in relation to perceived workload among aging employees
Article Abstract:
The musculoskeletal and cardiovascular capacity among aging employees in relation to workload over a period of sixteen years was determined. The results indicate that those with high workload had lower muscle strength than those who had low workload, which suggests that high physical workload does not have any training effect on the muscle strength of aging workers.
