Article Abstract:
Financing activity on international capital markets has increased by 44% from $1,284 billion in 1995 to $1,572 billion in 1996. Issuing activity in 4th qtr 1996 also rose with the decline in long-term domestic reference interest rates. Strong stock markets further induced international placements of equities to rise by 41% from $41 billion to $58 billion. Finally, new committed and uncommitted borrowing facility arrangements rose from $406 billion in 1995 to $460 billion in 1996.

Statistics on international financial market transactions in the first three qtrs of 1996 are presented. The tables also list the figures for 1993, 1994 and 1995. Some of the financial instruments cited include Euro and foreign bond offerings, international bond offerings, floating-rate issues, medium-term euro notes and bond offerings in dollars, yen, sterling and deutschmarks.

Among the pertinent data are international bond offerings, straight bonds, equity-related bonds, syndicated credits, floating-rate issues, external and foreign bond issues in various denominations such as the yen, deutschemark and pounds sterling.
