Singing for their supper
Article Abstract:
Investment trusts offer investors low costs, though the percentage charged has tended to rise and this is especially noticeable in roll overs. Fees for investment trusts still tend to be lower than those of unit trusts, though this is not the case for index tracking unit trusts. Performance-related fees have been suggested and have been introduced by some investment trusts. Critics argue that they tend to be used to push up fees as a whole. It is not not easy to select appropriate benchmarks.

Plans for a flexible future
Article Abstract:
Investment trusts have low costs and are geared to the long term so they are suitable vehicles for those savers who are building up a pension. They also offer flexibility which is important at a time when savers are affected by uncertainty about their employment. Investment trusts pension plans allow movement between trusts and cash facilities when investors are concerned about an overextended market. Foreign and Colonial Investment Trust is especially popular among investors.
