Japan pensions off old ways
Article Abstract:
The greying of the Japanese population and underfunding of pension funds has forced the pension fund business to effect a reorganization. The demand for change is proving to be a windfall for foreign financial services firms specializing in pension fund services as many Japanese pension fund sponsors have begun striking deals with US and European asset managers to manage their portfolios. The Japanese fund sponsors are hiring foreign asset managers because of their broad expertise.
