Japan: crucial stage
Article Abstract:
The Japanese economy is due to lose the backing of public spending but should be aided by loose monetary policy and an increase in corporate profits. Companies are investing more and starting to take on new employees at a faster rate in addition to increasing bonus payments. This should help boost consumption in 1997 which will rise more rapidly than in 1996, according to BZW. Japanese lower house elections will curb the equity market in the short term in Oct 1996.
