Eastman Kodak Co Pres and CEO Dan Carp is excited about the growth opportunities of pictures in the emerging markets of Latin America and Asia, particularly in China which is its third largest market. The Chinese market has been a profitable venture considering the high depreciation costs on plants. He expects digital sales to reach $2.3 billion and believes that digitization services is going to be very profitable.

Kodak, HP in joint inkjet minilab venture
Article Abstract:
Eastman Kodak Co and Hewlett-Packard Co (HP) revealed the joint venture they formed at the 2000 Photo Marketing Assn International Convention and Trade Show. A partnership was created by the two companies to jointly develop retail photofinishing products using inkjet technology. The yet to be named venture is owned equally by Kodak and HP and is expected to launch its first products in 2001.

Kodak explains retail strategy

Rochester, NY-based Eastman Kodak Co plans to sell some of its products directly to consumers through the Web. It built a co-branded site, called CVS.com where Kodak can be the fulfillment agent for CVS for those consumers wanting to move into photography. The company is intending to move into the photofinishing area to help retailers who want to co-brand get started. Its objective is to be as expansive as it can with retailers.
