Profits are expected to plummet at two leading discount brokers, Charles Schwab Corp and E*TRADE Group Inc despite bullish expectations in the market. The increase in sales may not translate into commission revenues because of recent price cuts pre-trade. Insider selling is increasing at Charles Schwab Corp. E*TRADE Group Inc has no plans of joining the fray on price cutting. Present market conditions are not expected to improve in the near future.

Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad is expected to break ground on SD's largest rail construction project since 1913. The $1.4 billion project, which will cover 220 miles of new railtrack and 600 miles of upgraded connection to the Powder River Basin Coal Fields, requires major financing. CFO Kurt Feaster has secured the services of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, which will seek investors who have rail and coal interests.
