Lunching out on success
Article Abstract:
The Boadicea Club was created to provide working women with an opportunity to meet with each other regularly, communicate ideas and experiences, and most importantly, widen their business contacts. It was conceived by Prue Stopford, with the encouragement of Shelley Saxon, out of her frustration from the lack of a network that will facilitate interaction among professional women. Despite initial apprehension from her partners in the accountancy firm for which she works, Stopford was able to convince them of benefits that arise from a more active interaction among people with limited connections in the industry. The club holds monthly lunchtime meetings where topics are discussed either by an invited speaker or among groups. Male guests are also invited every three months. Eighty people attended the first meeting and 155 more have expressed their intention to join.

Strategies for corporate success
Article Abstract:
Company success is determined by performance in the financial markets from which they raise capital. The ability of companies to obtain funds in the financial markets is, in turn, determined by their success in the competitive markets from which they generate profits. Business strategies are developed to help companies succeed by identifying lucrative competitive markets. Business strategy may be classified into corporate strategy and competitive strategy. The former plans the company's assemblage of competitive units or 'firmlets', and includes deciding which firmlet to acquire, retain or eliminate. The latter focuses on the positioning of each firmlets' products or services based on their prospective customers and competitors. Business strategy may be considered effective if it leads to financial success through competitive success.
