Making TQ work in practice
Article Abstract:
This is the second article in a series on the Total Quality (TQ) concept of management. Implementing TQ throughout a firm and applying TQ to the delivery of goods and services consists of various action steps. Senior management must support TQ by committing the needed resources and personal effort. The workers must be educated to change their work habits and attitudes. A system must be established for identifying and correcting problems. Communication throughout the company must be current and thorough, and TQ behavior should be recognized and rewarded. Performance should be measured, and improvements in performance and error-free work should be displayed. Events should be used to mark or celebrate the improvements in quality, and goals should be set on an continuing basis.
