Article Abstract:
Publicly-traded stocks and opinions mentioned in the 'Inside Wall Street' column of weekly magazine Business Week were collected from Jan. 1976 though Dec. 1988. The stories quote an analyst as the primary source in over 56% of the cases. Results indicate that stocks followed by less than 21 analysts, which have a favorable report, gain marked, positive abnormal returns at the time of the distribution of the magazine.
