Mid-tier merger frenzy breaks out

A deal of mid-tier mergers and acquisitions that took place in August 2005 have changed the shape of the Accountancy's Top 60, which might further lead to defensive mergers. Begbies Traynor made its fourth and largest acquisition since listing on AIM in October 2004, Menzies has merged with Heathrow practice Bolton Colby and Haines Watts has revealed an ambitious growth strategy with the acquisition of three independent practices.
