Morris steps into breach after ICAEW 'tempest'

The outgoing ICAEW president Ian Morris extended his year-long tenure by a further six months after controversy arose over president-elect Durgan's Emile Woolf International (EWI) being awarded the 'recommended supplier status' by the institute for ACA training in Russia and China. The ICAEW denied that the series of events mentioned at the June 2006 meeting of the institute's council as a 'tempest' that damaged its reputation and reiterated that they only enhanced its integrity.

ICAEW drives forward 'mini' audit

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is trying to bridge the gap between a statutory audit and an accountant's compilation report through a new assurance service. Conflict of interest concerns cloud presidential handover at ICAEW

Previous five presidents are investigating the allegations that Emile Woolf International, a company chaired and majority-owned by ICAEW's next president Graham Durgan is awarded the ACA training contracts. The committee would present its findings to the present president and chief executive regarding the conflict of interest concerns.
