Multisoft accounting system
Article Abstract:
The Multisoft Accounting System is in the midrange of accounting software programs. Users can make some modifications to the program, but the accounting functions are mostly kept standard and user-controlled. The Multisoft system consists of modules that are integrated but which can be purchased separately. The manual that comes with the package is thorough and fairly easy to use. System security is fairly good, allowing passwords to be established at the company level. The modules available include nominal ledger, purchase ledger, and sales ledger. The system is recommended for firms computerizing accounting operations for the first time, or looking to upgrade their systems. The package is available in either single-user or multi-user packages, and runs on computers using Xenix, Unix, and MS-DOS. The package costs around 390 pounds sterling per module.

Article Abstract:
SPAudit and Pro-Census are software packages that are designed to prevent users from unknowingly violating software copyright infringement laws. The SPAudit is a software auditing disk containing data on more than 650 available software packages which are compared against the files on the user's hard disk. This sofware package can produce reports on Machine ID, Count, Product, Publisher and File Spec. SPAudit is available for free from the Federation Against Software Theft. Likewise, the Pro-Census is an auditing disk divided into two parts: Census and Data Director. The Census disk runs questionnaires and gathers information on the hardware and software configuration of the PC on which it is installed. Collected data are then transmitted to the Data Director, which is the central administrative database. Pro-Census is available from Prosoft Ltd.

Fast!
Article Abstract:
Financial Audit Systems Inc's FAST! (Field Audit System Technology) automates the production of financial statements, lead schedules, and analytical review documents. It runs on an IBM-compatible computer with at least an MSDOS 2.0 operating system and 384k RAM. Version 5.0 has eight disks, with a word processing module, and an incomplete records package. The addition of the FAS-LINK module enables an auditor to transfer data from a nominal ledger that is computerized to the system. The software is easy to use, and the time to produce final accounts will be greatly reduced.
