NRC Handelsblad, based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, conducted a high-technology readership survey that resulted in new-look front page as well as other improvements in the evening newspaper. The paper worked with research agency Motivaction for the research that included videotaping readers of the paper to discover their reading habits. The research program, called Readership Pleasure and Readership Pain, consisted of a panel composed of subscribers and people who buy the paper in the store.

New York Today web site is big hit for locals, tourists

The ad, which permits visitors to create their own personalized daily calendar, focuses on the site's specific features including real estate listings, movie listings and restaurant reviews. The New York Times' New York Today web site, which debuted in Jun 1998, offers an online guide to New York to residents and visitors alike.
