General Atomics, San Diego, Calif., is being awarded an $11,840,709 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to conduct feasibility studies, design, and demonstrate the technology for an advanced aircraft recovery system based on linear electric motors. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif. (75%), and Lakehurst, N.J. (25%), and is expected to be completed by March 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured through a broad agency announcement and 14 offers were received.
