Navy tests Raytheon buoy to boost comms with submerged subs
Article Abstract:
Submarines will be able to communicate with the other Naval forces more easily and without compromising too much on their stealth factor once Raytheon Company's new communications buoy is in place. Unlike in the days of the Cold War, submarines today are deployed as part of an overall battle group and need to be integrated with their group to conduct networked warfare such as Tomahawk strikes.

Raytheon developing Navy comms system to enable 'time critical strike'
Article Abstract:
The US defense contractor Raytheon Company is developing its version of Navy Multiband Terminal (NMT), which would support a next-generation satellite communications network. NMT will aid the Navy in supporting the emerging concept of Sea Basing, in which the Navy will put more firepower, logistics and more at sea, to reduce dependency on building up forces and supplies ashore.
