Young says Navy to maintain its prowess against major powers
Article Abstract:
Several critics aver that the United States Navy is lowering its guard by purchasing fewer major weapons platforms such as destroyers and submarines. However, John Young, assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisitions, asserts that the Navy's shift in procurement strategy to smaller, lighter and more agile weapons systems will not affect its ability to counter attacks by major powers such as China.
