New center aims to be 24/7 biodefense resource
Article Abstract:
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's, California, new Biodefense Knowledge Center will be providing a resource in the fight against bioterrorism to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The biodefense center will tie together with 75 researchers from four national laboratories, which includes intelligence and biological analysts, information technology experts, and modeling and simulation experts.

DHS seeking contractor to run planned biodefense center
Article Abstract:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is judging its interest within industry and the non-profit sector to run the department's planned new biodefense center to be located at Ft. Detrick, Maryland. The NBACC facility, with the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive will provide America with essential biocontainment laboratory space for biological threat characterization and bioforensic research.

HASC staffers investigate 'Pressure Points'

Bipartisan Chairman Duncan Hunter stated that their teams of staffers on the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) have begun investigating a number of military pressure points. The announcement of the investigations came as HASC members met for an organizational meeting to set panel rules and an oversight plan.
