Personnel planning via computer relieves staffing crises promotions cause
Article Abstract:
Personnel planning software available in the $15,000 range is designed to integrate long term strategic planning with personnel hiring and promotion plans. The software can aid in resolving periodic crises associated with promotions and retirements, and can alert management to potential problems in career path projections for employees. One such software program, called CARE FOR, is designed to keep files on employees, with data tied to personnel plans created by management. Southland Corp. in Dallas uses a computerized personnel program primarily to manage retail outlets, where personnel do not have everyday contact with superiors.

Treasury managers more optimistic than economists about economy in 1986
Article Abstract:
A survey conducted by the Conference Board, New York, of 33 financial executives at Fortune 500 companies indicates that executives expect economic growth through 1987. The survey also showed that the current practice of generating most of the funding for business activity through internal sources will remain the same. A survey of 350 business economists, taken by the National Association of Business Economists, reveals that approximately 50 percent of business economists predict a recession in 1986. Business economists also predict increasing inflation and higher interest rates.
