Pilsner Urquell produces the beer Kozel in Saris too
Article Abstract:
Plzensky Prazdroj (PP) (Plzen, Czech Republic), Pilsner Urquell brewing company, has started the pilot production of the beer brand Velkopopovicky Kozel at Pivovar Saris (PS) (Slovakia). PS is owned by PP's parent company South African Breweries (BAS) (South Africa). Currently, PP is realizing the licensed production of the beer brands Gambrinus and Radegast at PS. This licensed production represents about 3% of total beer production in Slovakia. In 2000 PP produced 76,900 hl of Gambrinus and 21,000 hl of Radegast in Slovakia. According to an estimate of specialists, PP has over a 10% share on the Slovak brewing market.

Pilsner Urquell lowers its profit
Article Abstract:
Plzensky Prazdroj (PP) (Plzen, Czech Republic), Pilsner Urquell brewing firm, saw a profit of CEK 150 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 494 mil in 1999. Its proceeds increased by CEK 1.261 bil to CEK 7.458 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The brewery is owned by the group SAB (South Africa). The group SAB also associates the brewery Velkopopovicky kozel (Czech Republic), which increased its profit by CEK 40 mil to CEK 130.5 mil in 2000 compared to 1999, and Radegast (Czech Republic). Radegast saw a profit of CEK 209 mil in 2000 compared to a loss of CEK 105 mil in 1999.

Pilsner Urquell plans to invest CEK 1 bil

Plzensky Prazdroj (PP) (Plzen, Czech Republic), Pilsner Urquell brewing group, should invest more than CEK 1 bil during 2001-2002. The firm's main investment programme will be the modernization of plants and the growth of the quality of distribution. PP should invest CEK 1.2 bil in projects at its breweries in Plzen, Nosovice and Velke Popovice, all Czech Republic, during the fiscal year 4/2001-3/2002. One of the firm's main projects will be the construction of a warehouse in Plzen.
