Planning for a fall
Article Abstract:
Companies and their executives shouldpay close attention to the employment contract at the start of their relationship so that both parties will be prepared in the event that an executive has to be dismissed. On the part of the company, its main concerns when it fires a director or an executive are to prevent these employees from gaining access to confidential information and from stealing the firm's existing clients. If the employment contract has a garden leave clause, the company is allowed to relieve the executive of work during the notice period sothat access to sensitive information and contact with clients will be cut. For their part, executives can ensure that they will be compensated during the notice period by insisting that a liquidated damages clause be included in the employment contract.

The computing iceberg
Article Abstract:
Companies planning to introduce computer systems in their facilities should take note of the hidden and unexpected costs involved in such initiatives. Most of the time, firms considerthe hardware aspect when considering to introduce computer systems. This is a foolhardy approach since the hardware usually accounts for 20% of the entire cost. Aside from the hardware, companies should also reflect on the other cost factors related to computer systems. They are management, software, warranty, installation, maintenance, technical support, training, security, insurance, and consumables. Accounting for the expenses that may be incurred from these elements save companies from purchasing inappropriate systems. Thus, they are also spared from making adaptations, which is a difficult and costly undertaking.
