Imaging appliances on the horizon
Article Abstract:
Manufacturers have introduced novel products for showing digital pictures without using a computer. For example, Menlo Park, CA-based VideoChip Technologies exhibited at PMA 2000 a device called 'The Wallet' that shows digital pictures on a built-in, 24-bit, 4 inch backlit display. Likewise, digital cameras have been demonstrated sending images through Bluetooth to cellular phones and onto the Internet. Bluetooth is a wireless protocol supported by firms, such as IBM, Fuji Photo Film Co Ltd and Motorola Inc.
