Profits fail to sparkle
Article Abstract:
Siemens faces price pressure in its semiconductor business and this affects margins so a rise in output will take some time to boost profits. Th company forecasts a rise in sales of between 6% and 7% to between 94 billion German marks and 95 billion marks for 1995 to 1996, while profits will rise by 20%, less than previously forecast. Restructuring costs are reduced and this will help to boost profits. A rise in wages will erode gains from productivity in 1996.
