There are five questions that may guide marketing and sales managers in finding out if they are competing on value and not on price. Managers may ask themselves what is unique about their businesses; what customers value most about their businesses; how effective are they in communicating to customers their value-added services; how good are they are in explaining to customers their true worth; and if they are willing to deliver better value than their competitors.

Targeted image campaign uses competition, research in ads
Article Abstract:
The staff of the Morgunbladid newspaper in Reykjavik, Iceland, has implemented an image campaign that is aiamed at its advertisers. The campaign, which compares the impact of advertisements in Morgunbladid to other newspapers based on the latest research, features text of ads that were deliberately shortened in order to increase the likelihood of its being conveyed effectively. Photos of the newspaper in various locations and times of day were also shown.
