Quality and price competition in international wheat trade: a case study of the United Kingdom wheat import market
Article Abstract:
The price of wheat on the international market depends upon certain factors such as tariffs and price controls, but also upon certain technical requirements which differentiate one country's imports from another. In a study of the United Kingdom's wheat import market, Canadian wheat did better than similarly priced US wheat because of its relative gluten strength. The end use of an import will often determine its actual value in an import market.
