R-R out of steam
Article Abstract:
Rolls-Royce is benefiting from a recovery in the world aircraft industry which is boosting demand for the company's engines. This has led to a rise in the company's share price to a level that not all analysts see as sustainable. Four brokers from a sample of six rate the shares a sell, and two brokers rate them a buy. The sellers include Societe General Strauss Turnbull which is concerned about issues such as competition in the spare parts market and a contraction in defense spending. Buyers include Albert E Sharp and NatWest Securities.

Profits won't fly as Rolls-Royce takes off
Article Abstract:
Rolls-Royce is benefiting from an increase in demand but the company has faced price competition which affects profit margins for its new engines business. Spare parts offer better margins, though they too can be affected by price competition. New engines take some time to generate orders for spare parts and improvments in quality mean a reduction in demand for parts. Demand has risen less strongly for military aircraft engines but deliveries on new orders have begun to move.

R-R ahead of Allinson OK
Article Abstract:
Rolls-Royce aims to acquire Allinson, a producer of aeroengines. News of this move initially pushed up Rolls-Royce's share price, though the company's shares have since fallen. Stockbrokers are divided as to their views on the company's shares. Robert Fleming rates the shares a buy and sees the Allinson operation as holding back the company's share price. Three other brokers, including Yamaichi, rate Rolls-Royce shares a buy, but one broker would sell the shares.
