R&D chiefs outline needs for new hardware in terror war

Pentagon's central R&D arm has opened its eighth, and newest, strategic thrust driven by operations in Iraq and other future urban environments. R&D chiefs suggest a number of needs for new hardware in terror war including persistent reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition systems that vastly improve what troops know about the activities throughout a city in all three dimensions and over time.
