Raytheon profit up 50 percent; Halliburton leads with 168.3 percent

Raytheon Co. has posted a strong 50.0 percent increase in net income during the third quarter of 2005, but Halliburton Corp. has outperformed the other major defense contractors with a stunning 168.3 percent profit gains in the third quarter of 2005, compared to third quarter last year. The profit gains of the seven largest defense contractors in the third quarter of 2005 are discussed.

Halliburton Co. swings to profit in 2005

A major defense contractor Halliburton Co. has swung from a loss in 2004 to a profit in 2005. Halliburton has reported $1.102 billion net income in the fourth-quarter of 2005 and its net income jumped to $2.358 billion in 2005 when compared to $979 million loss in 2004.
