High Street competition
Article Abstract:
A new shopping complex four miles from the city center of Manchester, England, has been opened, and there is concern about its impact on the city and retail towns in the area. Central Manchester may be better able to resist than was first thought. A new Marks and Spencer store is to be opened in the center in 2000, which should help trade. Demand for retail units is strong in nearby Stockport, which offers a wider range of stores than the new complex.
