Rumsfeld: DOD must fund both existing, new assets

The US Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, spoke against the proposal that traditional procurement programs must be trimmed or eliminated to release monies to meet new threats and called for a full funding of the US military forces. His comments were made during the unveiling of a US$493.3 billion Department of Defense (DOD) budget proposal for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2007.

Navy picks Lockheed/Augusta US101 as new Marine One helicopter
Article Abstract:
The Navy has chosen Lockheed Martin Corp. and Augusta/Westland's US101 aircraft as the next Marine One presidential transport helicopter. An initial contract of $1.7 billion was given to the team to build an initial 11 helicopters and this prestigious victory heartens proponents of defense industry globalization.
