Sainsbury's saves GB 50m through ECR programme
Article Abstract:
Since 1995 there has been a 30% drop in the number of instances in which goods have been out of stock at the UK supermarket retailer Sainsbury's, with the improvement being due to its efficient customer response initiative. Customer availability has become a key objective at the retailer, which also claims to have saved GB 50mn from its ECR programme. ECR has led to better transport arrangements and more depots and its success is to lead to the scheme being extended. Sainsbury's plan to share its logistics and stockholding information with suppliers via the internet.
