Article Abstract:

Tobacco companies BAT Industries PLC and Rothmans International PLC have flourished despite higher taxes, anti-smoking legislation and limits on tobacco advertising. The bullish outlook for the two British tobacco giants is largely attributable to their increased sales in international markets, particularly in Asia and eastern Europe. BAT has been particularly successful in this area having doubled its tobacco product exports since 1985. Rothmans is following BAT's lead and has embarked on an aggressive expansion drive in the Far East.

Nordvision on Swedish Television: The Rise and Decline of a Regional Program Exchange

Article Abstract:

The fate of Nordvision, an exchange of television broadcasts among Scandinavian countries that was launched in 1959, is examined. If Nordvision had been successful it may have enhanced language understanding and further integration between Scandinavian countries. Instead Swedish television adopted British and U.S. imported programing as did most European countries.
