Sub Pop Records
Article Abstract:
The gritty graphics of the record label Sub Pop is associated with the grunge sound of Nirvana and other Seattle-based rock bands. Founded in 1987, Sub Pop Records recovered from near extinction to enjoy overnight success through Nirvana. The success prompted them to form an in-house art department, headed by Jeff Kleinsmith and Hank Trotter, to cope with the increasing pressures. The bonehead designs, created by the in-house art department, reflect both the raw punk energy of early years and a growing refinement.

Signs of the times
Article Abstract:
Improved letterings and better readability in road signs will be a common thing if Meeker & Associates' findings are implemented. They noted that existing street signs are difficult to read because they are almost all uppercase, and are less readable at night. Coming out with a typeface called Clearview, signs are made using upper- and lowercase letters. The letter structures were also improved making readability at night better than those set in the existing Highway Series.
