The art of selling time and space
Article Abstract:
Wight Collins Rutherford and Scott (WCRS) was able to transform itself from a minor advertising company into the biggest media-buying company in Europe. The success of WCRS, now known as Aegis Group PLC, can be attributed solely to the efforts of one of the agency's founders, Peter Scott. It was Scott who assumed the role of strategic planner for the firm and proceeded in acquiring companies that would enable Aegis to offer a wide range of services and expand its operations to compete with its more established rivals. Under Scott's leadership, Aegis has grown to become a multibillion pound company that has a 12% European market share and that is being traded in the bourses of London, Paris and New York. Aegis Group PLC was the 1992 recipient of the Queen's Export Award in recognition of the company's success in increasing its overseas earnings by 50% over a three-year period.
