The former firm Galena fights for the well-known drink Kofola
Article Abstract:
Ivax-CR (Opava, Czech Republic), pharmaceutical firm, formerly Galena, produces the syrup Kofo. Santa (Krnov, Czech Republic) and 13 small-scale producers produce the soft drink Kofola from the syrup. A total of 350,314 hl of the soft drink were sold in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2000 compared to 179,527 hl in 1999. Kofola is the registered trade mark of Ivax-CR. Some firms use similar names as Kofola and Ivax-CR does not agree with the marking. That is why Ivax-CR has applied for the stoppage of the distribution of the soft drink Kofca, which is produced by Monada Drink (Czech Republic). The firm's demand has been met. Besides, Ivax-CR is solving a dispute with several soft-drink producers in Slovakia, who use similar names as Kofola.
