Texas Instruments Europe - winner of the European Quality Award 1995
Article Abstract:
Texas Instruments (TI) Europe adopted the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) business excellence model in 1993 after realizing that innovation and emphasis on quality were not enough to ensure competitiveness in the rapidly changing market. The EFQM model allowed the company to boost revenues, sales and market share while cutting costs. There was also a significant increase in the number of customers which expressed satisfaction with TI Europe's service.

Promoting TQM through national quality awards - the Austrian experience
Article Abstract:
Austria's National Prize for Certified Quality was established in 1987 to promote product quality and business excellence in the country's industries. Although the program is only open to members of the Austrian Assn. for the Promotion of Quality, it has done much to foster an awareness of quality. A brief overview of the program and the proposed new Austrian Quality Award is presented.
