There once was a tick from Lyme..
Article Abstract:
SmithKline Beecham has developed a vaccine, LYMErix, against spinochete, that causes Lyme disease, which has been unnanimously recommended for approval by a USDA advisory panel. Hastily following SmithKline, Swiftwater, PA-based Pasteur Merieux Connaught plans to submit the results of clinical trials on a like vaccine. Long-term efficacy has not been established for either company's drug, but the initial results of tests are promising.

Simple recipe for blocking ion channels
Article Abstract:
A simple and elegant recipe for producing specific inhibitory polyclonal antibodies that could be targeted to any ion channel with a six-transmembrane-domain structure is presented. Such antibodies would facilitate the study of excitable cells and, as many of these channels are potential drug targets, might provide a starting point for the development of therapeutic antibodies.
