To hold or to sell - the question facing Old Mutual members
Article Abstract:
Old Mutual is a South African financial services company which is to list on the London Stock Exchange. Policyholders voted in Mar 1999 to carry out the plan to list, and have been allocated stocks which they can sell. An immediate instruction to sell means that dealing charges will not be paid, but stockholders would not benefit from a subsequent stock price rise. The stocks could perform well, and the company has a strong position in the South African market.

Share dealing on the net
Article Abstract:
Electronic Share Information (ESI) has launched a service which will permit investors to buy and sell shares from their homes using a personal computer. Infotrade, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi, is also offering this service. ESI uses the broker ShareLink, and Infotrade uses City Deal. Infotrade uses its own network and ESI uses the Internet. Infotrade argues that security is superior with a private network, while ESI argues that coding provides enough security.
