Training managers for the global market
Article Abstract:
Increasing global competition has made it necessary for US corporations that participate in international markets to reevaluate their executive training and development programs. Companies should consider cooperative training between business and educational institutions as practiced in Europe to develop new Euro-managers. The characteristic Euro-managers should posses include a university education, experience abroad, and an understanding of economics. The elements of an effective training strategy include business consultants that throughly understand the products, services, and culture of the companies they consult with; development plans that are integrated with the goals of the companies; and trainers that select candidates from within their firms.
