Electronic Data Process (EDP) is a software developer and supplier of hardware. The company appears to be turning around, and its stock price has risen. The company's interim figures show a rise in profit for 1997 to 1998. EDP aims to target large companies with its software which is geared to distribution and merchandising. Software accounted for 45% of turnover for the 12 months to Sep 1997. The company's profit for the whole of 1997 to 1998 is forecast at 2.2 million pounds sterling by Henry Cooke Lumsden.

Easynet: not so easy

Easynet plans a flotation on the UK Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in Mar 1996. The company is an Internet service provider, and there are more than 100 service providers in the UK, with Demon ranking first in this market. Easynet holds a 5% stake in the UK market with 5,000 subscribers, and MAID has acquired a 15% stake in the company, giving Easynet an opportunity to sell to corporate clients of MAID. The company is expanding rapidly and expects to report a profit for 1997.
