Typefaces are rich with the gesture and spirit of their own era
Article Abstract:
Fonts are evocative of the historical era in which they were created and should be designed in such a manner that letter structures are maintained. At the same time, novel styles that will ensure their popularity must be incorporated creatively. Technological innovations, particularly in desk-top publishing, have changed the art of font designing both economically and aesthetically. Whereas designing used to concern itself solely with style and structure, it now also involves gauging the capabilities of output devices and having the courage to explore new design possibilities.

Design's figure head: Dan Friedman, 1946-1995
Article Abstract:
Dan Freidman, a designer who died in the summer of 1995, believed in high modernism. Dan's inclusion of street life , club style, pop culture, found objects and graffiti foreshadowed the later enchantment with vernacular. Dan concentrated on the world of interiority, he appeared to have vanished from the professional design realm as he dealt with furniture and chosen projects. His book 'Radical Modernism' is not simply a justification of modernism as it is considered by younger critics.
