Cohen sees defense outlays flattening, more links to DHS

Former Secretary of Defense William Cohen, who served Pentagon during the Clinton administration stated that the defense spending, which soared in past five years as of 2006, is about to level off and it has reached a high point and from now on it is likely to flatten out. There are new threats from dangerous enemy in the global war on terrorism and hence, Department of Defense needs to operate in concert with the others, such as the Department of Homeland Security.

Mullen open to overseas weapons platforms; Lauds Rumsfeld
Article Abstract:
Michael Mullen, chief of naval operations reported in April 2006 that the Navy wishes to obtain the best technology at the lowest cost and hence he is responding to a question as to how he views positions expressed by Rep. Duncan Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and other lawmakers. Hunter and other lawmakers stated that the US taxpayer's money should be spent on weapons systems designed and built in the US by American labor.
