England: Second JSF engine not worth the cost
Article Abstract:
The proposal to scrap the second of two engine manufacturers for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program was made with a view to cutting costs the US Deputy Secretary of Defense, Gordon England, testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC). The JSF previously had two engine producers namely Pratt & Whitney and the team of General Electric Co. and Rolls Royce, plc. producing an engine-dubbed F136.

Resumed test flights may not avert Raptor cuts
Article Abstract:
Air Force resumption of flight-testing does not mean the F/A-22 Raptor fighter aircraft program necessarily will avoid deep cuts under consideration at the Department of Defense (DOD). The Air Force had suspended flight-testing of the Raptor following the crash of an F/A-22 at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada on December 20, 2004.
