Telecoms
Article Abstract:
The telecoms industry benefits from strong demand, and major mergers are increasingly common. The industry has been affected by liberalization in Europe and the US, and is likely to see a drop in tariffs and major capital investment, while the customer base is likely to become increasingly segmented. Data traffic is one expanding area. There is a problem that drops in tariffs are not always compensated for by volume increases, and it is not easy to value telecoms companies.

Article Abstract:
The cost of telecommunications equipment is difficult to assess in the UKsince it tends to be sold as part of a wider package. Handsets may be subsidised by serviceproviders or dealers who receive a bonus for new subscriptions. Analogue coverage in the UK isrelaible, but GSM digital networks give coverage abroad. PCN digital technology is similar toGSM but is not used abroad. There are more models available for analoguetechnology.
