Poll tax average exceeds target
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom's poll tax figures are predicted to increase by an average of 10.6% in April 1992 equivalent to 279.73 pounds sterling, way above the target amount of 257 pounds sterling. The figures were culled from a survey conducted by a research arm of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting. The tax averages for England and Wales include the impact of community and parish councils on charge bills. The Scottish average, on the other hand, excludes water.

Councils urged to challenge High Court poll tax cases
Article Abstract:
Local Government Finance Policy Head Paul Britton prods poll tax collecting authorities to appeal the High Court of Justice's ruling on liability orders. The ruling, penned by Lord Justice Mann, Lord Justice Nolan and Mr Justice Jowitt, forbids the use of computer evidence in poll tax non-payment cases. The court decision has already caused the county councils estimated losses of 3 million pounds sterling due to more delays in poll tax payments.
